Evan Chan is one part in-joke, one part rich cultural reference.
In early 2001, as Stephen Spielburg and Stanley Kubrick's film "A.I.: Artifical Intelligence" was hitting theaters, a media engine unlike any the world had seen was taking shape. This media behemoth promoted the idea of secret organizations and artificial intelligence as realty. An Alternate Reality. And a group of industrious people, who would become known as "Cloudmakers", was formed.
At the center of all this was the death of Evan Chan. A global whodunnit of epic proportions took place, with a collective detective at the scene of the crime.
The Evan Chan who lives in Ascendancy Point, Perplex City, is an homage to that great old game.
