  • This typically happens on or about June 21.
  • Retail Sales associated with the holiday have been on an upward trend for the last fifteen years.
  • Traditionally not a major gift-giving event, as in winter.
  • Consumers have begun to transition from traditional toy and joke gifts to larger and more expensive gifts.
  • Preceeding the major holiday are a variety of lesser events and occassions, including a Celebration of Water, which takes place 2 weeks before Midsummer.
