General

The department of mathematics and logic covers fields of algebra, analysis, category theory and logic, combinatorics, geometry and topology, number theory, probability, statistics and shift theory. It is one of the oldest departments in Perplex City Academy. The competition for places is exceptionally high, particularly because the department is noted for its hands-off approach in allowing researchers choose topics of interest to them. The department's contributions to the PCAG have always been of the highest caliber, winning the Scribe Prize more often than any other department. This can be attributed to the department's continuing commitment to making its research attractive and understandable to the public through puzzles. Recent work includes research on the Vornack Conjecture and exploring the Selman Interpretation of shift theory.
