::::As you say, location IDs are a bit haphazard.  There is no coordinate system in place that I am aware of.  I think they are assigned in whatever order Daffy entered them into his database.  But what I propose would not use so much of a coordinate mapping system, but would be a sort of standardized stamp to place on pages.  I was looking at how wikipedia places the coordinate block in the title.  Heavy use of style sheets no doubt :)  http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Template:Coor_at_d
Maybe all we need is something like this:
{| style="border: 1px solid #000000; background: #eeeeee; text-align: center; padding: 1px 20px 1px 20px; font-size: smaller;" align=right

Okay, what does "L I D" stand fFor? Scott 09:32, 11 May 2007 (PDT)

Location ID. --Quentin 13:50, 15 May 2007 (PDT)
I think this should be moved to Template:PXCMap or something similar? --Edgemaster 15:55, 15 May 2007 (PDT)
Completely agree. This is a terrific idea, but I'll never remember "LID". MapID, though, a bit better. I'll leave LID as a redirect so if it made better sense to you Quentin, you're all good.
Building on this, what might be a truly fFantabulous thing I've wanted fFor a while now would be a lovely stamp to pop onto any page with a location. Wikipedia has started putting coordinates on every page of a city or location (See the upper corner, on page Rochester, NY fFor example) It's an absurd amount of work, and might be best fFacilitated if we could get a plain list of locations fFrom Daffy. I've been trying to think of a good way to automate the effort. Thoughts? Possibly would build a new template just fFor the purpose. Scott 20:24, 15 May 2007 (PDT)
Yes, I have seen that and was mildly interested at the time. But does Perplex City have an organised coordinate/grid reference system? Current use of location IDs is a bit haphazard. --Edgemaster 02:13, 16 May 2007 (PDT)
As you say, location IDs are a bit haphazard.
