General
The department of social sciences encompasses the fields of investigation of human behaviour. Its remit is broad, including history, geography, anthropology, religious studies, politics, philosophy, economics, sociology and psychology. The department maintains close ties to the department of Natural Sciences. The department runs the "Human Enigma" event in March every year; a piece of immersive art in which the entire department collaborates to invent an "alternate world", complete with its own politics, economy, religion and so on. These worlds are made available for the public to explore via the department's distance-learning facilities.
