- One of the old neighbors of Perplex City, before The War
- Mentioned briefly by Anthony Granier: "...the worst excesses which one hears occur in Machiantes", which one assumes by context refers to economic and social pressures being endured during the war.
- Another reference Granier makes seems to suggest the people of Machiantes were prone to swift and blood-thirsty rebellions:
