This is part of the compilation created for the book Tales From The Third Planet, created by the Cubehunters on Earth, and printed by Lulu. Anyone can buy it here, with proceeds to go to unfiction! :)

Very sadly, this piece was entirely overlooked, and does not appear in the book. Which really sucks cos it's a right beautiful piece of prose. In a perfect world, this might appear somewhere prominent, like on the back cover. I blame myself for it's omission. That, and time constraints, which had an effect on overall quality. Happily, here it is...

I liked the games you played,
Sunny with a hint of nightshade.
A glance, a quickening laugh like mercury,
A long-toothed grin,
The snares you used to draw me in.

And now I find myself a pawn
And you all queened with daggers drawn
You castled me and I can’t get away
And now I find
I didn’t want to play.
