She was previously published unnder the Hesh Records label, until her producer left Hesh. Joya chose to go with her producer.

Joya had broken up with longtime flame and fellow singer Alejo Jackson, frontman for the band Roll for Damage, not long before announcing her engagement to Horace Shockley
Planned to marry her producer Horace Shockley on June 21, Solstice Day.
Vomited in trendy eatery Elise's Place and fainted during a performance at the Majestic Theatre, fueling speculation about potential pregnancy
On the day of her wedding, she simply failed to show up.
Soon after, was spotted courting PCAG athlete Ryan Cahill.
But for the most part, she went into seclusion.
On 11-SEP-05, she came out of seclusion, visibly pregnant. No word on who the father is, but the child is due in Late December.
- Nine months prior to that date is Late March, which means the father is anyone's guess.

12-DEC-05 - Is spotted with Ryan Cahill, possibly having a sort of tiff, possibly breaking up.
